The Group

Chinese Brush Painting is mainly line art painted in ink with water colour as a secondary medium to enhance the ink. There are three styles of painting, the first being Detail or Careful Style, the second Spontaneous or Free Style and the third a combination of both, In order to practise Chinese Brush Painting you have to learn the principles and methods but if you follow them step by step you will progress and gain a great deal of pleasure .My aim is to take you through these styles and give you a taste of a different type of painting.

The Leader

I am new to Dorset having spent most of my life overseas as a primary schoolteacher and finally in charge of curriculum for the expatriate school in Singapore till 1992. Having taught there for twenty years I became interested in Asian Art and when my children left home I decided to study Chinese Brush Painting. I was taught by Mr. Chew Choon, a graduate of The Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, who has now given up teaching to concentrate on full time painting and is best known for his African Wild Life art. He developed in me a great love of painting and I have exhibited in both Singapore and Perth Australia.
