The Group

This new group gives u3a members a chance to share their travel experiences. Talks are given describing our favourite locations. There are no restrictions on location, type of holiday or whether your travel was for leisure or work. Possibilities include tours of distant countries to weekend breaks in Europe, from safari tours to cruises. Speakers illustrate their travels with as many or as few photographs that they feel convey the atmosphere and character of the places that have inspired them.

In u3a we have so many members who have travelled widely on holiday, but we are lucky to have several members who have spent years working abroad who can share a deeper knowledge of the culture of the people they have lived and worked with.  The idea is for members to learn about the diverse world we live in and perhaps even inspire some to follow in the presenters’ footsteps.

The group is open to all and there is no requirement for members to be well travelled or to give talks – the only requirement is to enjoy hearing about the world around us.

I have been lucky to have been able to travel widely for both work and pleasure. A particular love is taking safari holidays, but I also enjoy travelling and seeing other cultures, especially in Asia. Combined with my love of photography, I hope to use this group to share my experiences and inspire others to travel.

Travelling for leisure has been a treasured activity throughout my life. On learning to dive over 20 years ago, I have been privileged to explore remote parts of the world, on land and under the sea. I hope to share these experiences with the group.
