Riverblue Performs
At The Sound Waves Sinfonia Concert

13th July 2024 at St’ Marks, West Parley

The Group

This group is aimed at amateur ukulele players with at least some basic knowledge of playing the ukulele and who are looking to improve their skills by playing as a part of a group.

(Beginners to the ukulele please click here)

There is no formal teaching as we develop by learning and coaching from each other.
You don’t need to read music as most of our music is in the form of lyrics and ukulele chords.

However, you would need your own ukulele, music stand and the facility to print music sheets sent to you by email.

We have group members with varying abilities but all contribute to the overall sound of our ukulele group.
We encompass all genres of music from many decades right up to the present time; the main thing is to have fun while improving your playing ability on this wonderful instrument.
The ukulele is currently experiencing much deserved popularity and we have already been asked to perform locally.
Who knows, in the future, we may even aspire to become a Ukulele Orchestra!

The Leader

I have been involved with music in one form or another for as long as I can remember.

My main instrument is Guitar but I also play ukulele, 6 string banjo and keyboard.

I was the vocalist for the rock-n-roll band “Ogri and the Cafe Racers” in my late fifties and until recently was singing with The Bourne2Sing Male Voice Choir
With the growing popularity of the ukulele and knowing how much pleasure this instrument gives, I decided to form a group with the U3A in Verwood.
So if you’re interested in playing this amazing versatile instrument, don’t procrastinate, get in touch and join in!

Riverblue ~ Verwood u3a’s Ukulele Group
Performing For Red Nose Day at The Hub

Riverblue held a UkeAthon for Red Nose Day at Verwood Hub to collect funds for the charity. The public were asked to bring their own Ukuleles and play and/or sing along with Riverblue.
Our apologies, unfortunately half the mics were not turned on by the Hub so the sound is not balanced.
The video was taken on a small palmcorder which doesn’t help. It did sound better live.
